Is Legend of the Guardians a movie for kids?

Kids who have read the books will know that they are getting into with Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga'hoole. Parents who have not read the books should understand that the movie is closer an owl version of The Lord of the Rings than an owl version of The Chronicles of Narnia.

Clash of the Geeks

Jeff Zugale's cover shows a furry kitten, resplendent with a golden unicorn horn and thick wings flying toward danger. If that's not worth five dollars, I am not sure what purpose money serves, especially when the book reveals that Wil Wheaton is riding the Unicorn Pegasus Kitten.

Oxford Standardizes Slang by Adding New Words to the Dictionary

The Oxford University Press might have just become Stephen Colbert's new BFF. The prestigious publisher added Colbert's "truthiness" to the New Oxford American Dictionary, according to the list of new dictionary words offered on the OUP blog on September 16, 2010. "Truthiness" was the word of the year for Merriam-Webster in 2006, but Oxford takes longer to decide if a word is worthy of dictionary status.
